w/ BURNING STAR CORE and GABIE STRONG

The Echo, Los Angeles

THE DEAD C
For the first time in nearly 15 years, New Zealand’s The Dead C is returning to Los Angeles for an incredibly rare performance. Since they first began over 30 years ago, Michael Morley, Bruce Russell and Robbie Yeats have together blazed an uncompromising path through the worlds of underground music. Confounding the concepts of “rock” and "music" - The Dead C have bent and blurred traditional song forms, their music expanding to harness the sonic possibilities of free improvisation, noise / feedback / drone, punk rock, psychedelia, the blues and beyond…

Delirious, chaotic, heart rending their recordings and performances have made them the unlikely forefathers of what some call "noise rock" but what in reality is a far more open and expansive free noise....

BURNING STAR CORE
Emerging from Cincinnati during the early 90's and continuing through present day in New York, Burning Star Core (BxC) revealed the first signs of the expansive, constantly engaging music and art of C. SPENCER YEH. Never easy to pin down, BxC's music is the vivid realization of sound ideas forging rock and pop music with the practices and materials of the avant garde, vocal and electronic music. BxC is Yeh's longest running project and perhaps his most enigmatic.

Currently based in New York, Yeh is recognized for his interdisciplinary activities and collaborations as an artist, improviser, and composer in forums including MoMA NYC, The Walker Art Center, The Whitney, The Kitchen, D-CAF in Cairo Egypt, Bordeline Festival in Athens Greece, and All Ears in Oslo Norway.

GABIE STRONG is a California artist and musician exploring spatial constructions of degeneration, drone and decay as a means to improvise new arrangements of self-reflexive meaning. Strong uses sound performance, radio broadcasting and video as a mediums for experimentation. She has two LPs coming out this fall on the new label Crystalline Morphologies.
